Objectives

On successful completion of SA 8000:2014 Basic Auditor course, students will be able to:

To understand the development of Codes of Conduct and SA8000
To understand the labour standards used.
To know the identity and role of stakeholders in social accountability auditing.
To be competent in the key skills for monitoring and verification for Codes and SA 8000 auditing

Who the course is for

Completion of secondary education.
An understanding of report writing is desirable.
It is recommended that all students:
- Have at least a familiarity with ISO/IEC 19011 before attending.
- Understand fundamental auditing principles and protocols at a basic level

Course Contents

Introduction to the field of labour standards and the development of corporate responsibility in the global market.
Overview of tools developed to deliver acceptable labour standards in the corporate sphere, covering the intent, form and content of Company Codes of Conduct and SA8000, and the scenarios in which they operate;
Auditing issues and methodologies used in conducting, monitoring and independent verification of Company Codes of Conduct and in auditing to the SA8000 standard.
Practical exercises and feedback.

This 5 day course uses a mixture of taught sessions, interactive group discussions and case study exercises to achieve its aims. Role-plays in audit scenarios have been carefully designed to focus upon issues that commonly arise during social accountability audits
